Choristers Perform Messiah

Dec 13, 2009 | 08:00 PM - 10:30 PM

This fall, Elizabethtown Community and Technical College is sponsoring a community choir to sing sections of Handel’s Messiah. All singers are invited to participate. There will be no auditions for chorus members, but all singers are expected to learn their parts. Members of the Louisville Orchestra will accompany the performance.

Rehearsals will be held at Memorial Methodist Church on North Miles in Elizabethtown. They will be held on Tuesdays from 7:00-9:00 p.m., beginning October 6 and continuing through December 8. The dress rehearsal will take place Saturday, December 12 from 10:00-12:00 at Memorial Methodist, and the performance will be held at the church Sunday, December 13 at 8:00 p.m.

Dr. Camille Hill from Elizabethtown Community and Technical College will direct the rehearsals and performance. Dr. John Kays, who formerly directed annual Messiah performances at Ft. Knox, will be guest conductor. Rehearsal accompanist is Dorothy Scheitlin.

Singers should bring their own musical scores, but some scores will be available for loan, or scores may be ordered. Solo auditions will take place November 3 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. We hope to see all interested choral singers October 6. For more information, please call Camille Hill at 270-706-8448.
