Welcome - from Dr. White
Welcome to the web site dedicated to the activities related to Elizabethtown Community and Technical College's reaffirmation of accreditation by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). SACS is the non-governmental organization that accredits institutions of higher education in the southern states.
This web site is intended to serve as a resource to the ECTC community for all aspects of the college's reaffirmation process. It will be updated as new information becomes available. Should you have any questions concerning the site, its contents, or the SACS reaffirmation process, please contact:

Yours in Education,
Dr. Thelma White, President/CEO
Purpose and Process of Accreditation
Accreditation in the United States is a voluntary and self-regulatory mechanism of the higher education community. It plays a significant role in fostering public confidence in the educational enterprise, in maintaining standards, in enhancing institutional effectiveness, and in improving higher education. It also provides the basis on which colleges and universities can be assured that accredited institutions have complied with a common set of requirements and standards. (Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, 2004, Handbook for Reaffirmation of Accreditation, pg. 1)
The Elizabethtown Community and Technical College is accredited by:

The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools
1866 Southern Lane
Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097
(404) 679-4501

To remain an accredited institution, ECTC must periodically undergo a process of reaffirmation.
