What is Japanese School?

@

The Elizabethtown Japanese School (EJS) was established in Elizabethtown, KY in 1987 for the purpose of educating children in Japanese on Saturdays.  Increased investment by Japanese companies brought a growing number of Japanese families into this area.  Several Japanese companies in the surrounding area joined EJS to ensure the children of their employees form 1st grade to 12th grade receive the education they will require when they return to Japan.  Although most students are Japanese nationals, EJS is open to any students who want to study in Japanese.

The Elizabethtown Japanese School registered as a non-profit organization in Kentucky in 1989 and is funded in large part by Japanese companies.  At the same time, EJS became part of Elizabethtown Community and Technical College program.  EJS receives support from Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, Japanese Ministry of Education, Consulate-General of Japan, and the Japanese Overseas Children Education Foundation.
