Ready to Work

The Ready-to-Work Program is a joint venture between the Kentucky Cabinet for Families and Children (KCFC) and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) designed to promote the success of Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program (K-TAP) recipients who wish to pursue higher education.

You must be receiving full KTAP benefits (monthly monetary assistance for children, medical card, food stamps) to qualify. If you are currently married or are receiving child support you may not qualify.

The Ready-to-Work Program can provide:

  • Academic advising
  • Career counseling
  • Personal development activities
  • Work-study assignments
  • Coordination with case managers
  • Financial assistance with:
    • Child care
    • Vehicle repairs
    • Work clothing and supplies
  • Verification of class attendance
  • Activities assigned to meet KTAP requirements
  • Tutorial assistance for tough classes
  • Finding your way through the financial aid and enrollment processes
  • Meeting and talking with peers
  • Short-term training for job skills, life skills and academic success seminars
  • Agency referrals
  • Job references and referrals
