Education program.

Education

You decide the career

We can get you started on the right path to eventually earn certification to become an elementary, middle grades, high school, special education, art, music, PE, or any other type of teacher you would like to become.

Can I specialize my degree?

After you determine what type of certification you want and which four-year institution you will transfer to in order to finish the requirements for certification, we will tailor either the Associate of Arts (AA) or the Associate of Science (AS) degree so that your first two years will transfer smoothly and you will have met all course requirements for your 100- and 200-level courses.

Note: Even though there is an AAS - Teacher Prep option degree, this is NOT the best route to certification. Students are encouraged to pursue either the AA or the AS degree instead.

What are the admission requirements?

There are no admission requirements for the Education program at ECTC. However, there are state-mandated admission requirements for ALL teacher education programs at the four-year colleges/universities. These requirements will be discussed in your 200-level education courses that you take at ECTC.

Where do I start?

A good place to start is with the Informational Handout. Please read it carefully and then contact Julie Coy, Program Coordinator, with any questions you may have. See contact information below.
