Financial Aid Eligibility:
Below you will find the Financial Aid criteria that must be met in order to be eligible for assistance.
- Have a financial need
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Be enrolled in classes (at least half-time for loans)
- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Have a valid Social Security Number
- Make satisfactory academic progress
- Be registered with Selective Service (males only)
- Not be incarcerated

Your eligibility for financial aid is determined by an objective formula prescribed by the U.S. Congress. This formula is used by the processor to calculate the amount that each family is expected to contribute toward the student’s cost of education (educational cost includes items such as; room and board, tuition, transportation, books and supplies, etc).
The total cost of education, as determined by each school, minus the expected family contribution equals unmet need. The unmet need is the maximum amount of aid a student may receive from all sources.
Financial aid information is available to every student. The financial aid award package is designed to meet as much of the students’ financial eligibility as possible. All awards are contingent upon the following:
- Compliance with request for additional documentation to support the application
- Accuracy of information provided
- Availability of funds from federal, state, and institutional sources
- Adjustments are made to the award when information received affects the eligibility
- Eligibility is based on enrollment
- Satisfactory academic progress must be maintained
Over 82% of students enrolled at Elizabethtown Community and Technical College receive some type of financial aid.
