The diesel technology program is designed to provide students with a thorough understanding of the proper factory-approved methods used in servicing, testing, repairing, and maintaining diesel powered trucks. Training also includes learning to make the proper diagnosis using test equipment, hand tools, special equipment, precision measuring tools, and service manuals.
Efforts are made to make the students knowledgeable in the diesel field using special equipment, technical manuals, service specifications, diagnosis, and methods of repair. Skills and attitudes are developed that will produce safe and efficient working habits. Students are taught to develop a willingness to follow instructions, a desire to cooperate with fellow workers, and a wholesome attitude.
The associate degree in diesel technology consists of 15 hours of general education. They may be taken prior to entry into the program or during enrollment in the program. The diesel technology program is master certified through the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation, Inc. (NATEF).
