Magazine and Journal Article Databases

Gale

Elizabethtown Community and Technical College has access to two Gale databases: Academic OneFile and the Health Reference Center. Academic OneFile contains articles dealing with current events, politics, humanities, psychology and a number of other topics. The Health Reference Center provides information on diseases, treatments, drug therapy and other medical topics. Logon information

EBSCO

This set of databases includes several containing magazine and journal articles. Academic Search Premier covers a variety of topics. Business Source Premier covers business topics. Health Source Plus contains articles on medical topics. Sociology Collection contains articles from sociology journals and covers a wide range of social issues. ERIC and the Professional Development Collection cover education topics. The Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection, and the Religion and Philosophy Collection cover topics in those categories. Logon information

FirstSearch databases

Journal article indexing, ERIC digests, table of contents, government document indexing

FirstSearch consists of a number of databases covering a wide variety of topics. These databases are not full-text; they provide only indexes and in some cases, abstracts. The coverage within these databases, however, is much greater than that of the full-text databases. In addition, a greater number of scholarly journals are indexed. The articles themselves may be acquired via interlibrary loan. The full text of the ERIC Digests are available online. Logon information

Off-campus Database Access

Use the Quick Links on the ECTC Library home page. Click on the Off-campus Users link next to the title of the database you wish to search. You will pull up the proxy server portal. Type in your KCTCS email user ID and password. NOTE: Do NOT click on the title of the database you wish to search.Type in your KCTCS email user ID and password.

Interlibrary Loan

You may obtain books and magazine, journal and newspaper articles through Interlibrary Loan.
