Choosing a Topic
- Consult with your instructor. He
or she may already have a list of possible topics. If you have a
topic that you would like to pursue, you should discuss the idea with
your instructor. Get his or her approval.
- Consider topics that have been discussed or suggested in class or in
class readings or textbooks
- Scan recent issues of magazines or journals that deal with the general
subject of your class
- In many cases you will be asked to choose a current event for your
topic. If this is the case, then:
- Scan current issues of newspapers
and news magazines. We carry major news magazines such as Time,
Newsweek and U.S. News and World Report. We also
subscribe to the Elizabethtown News-Enterprise,
the Louisville Courier-Journal and the Lexington
Herald-Leader. Your local public should also subscribe to the
major news magazines and local newspapers.
