History of the Organization

In the fall of 1987, several of Elizabethtown's existing businesses and industries began informal discussions of their need for upgrading the skills of their employees.  With the help of the Elizabethtown/Hardin County Industrial Foundation and the Hardin County Plant Manager's  Association, a training program was organized by local industry, and the Elizabethtown Community and Technical College to provide the training needed.  A charter membership group was formed to satisfy this purpose and direction, and began operating under the title of Elizabethtown Industrial Foundation Training Consortium (EIFTC).

Although initial course offerings were in the maintenance area, the selection has broadened to include computer applications, regulatory activities and management training.  Thus far, several thousand participants from over 50 businesses, industries, government agencies and the general public have attended EIFTC courses.

The unique success of EIFTC is the result of excellent cooperation among business and industry, Elizabethtown/Hardin County Industrial Foundation, and the Elizabethtown Community and Technical College.
